The middle texture, richer than Flow and built for the body. Same five oils, more of them, so drier skin on arms, legs and shoulders gets a proper cushion without feeling heavy.

At a glance

  • Skin type: Dry sensitive (type 1)
  • Texture: Core, the middle, over 15% plant oils
  • Best for: the body
  • Full formulation published below. Every ingredient, every exact percentage.

What it is, and who it's for

A body moisturiser on the same barrier-support blend as Flow, concentrated up for larger areas and thirstier skin. Still built around gentleness, because sensitive skin doesn't stop at the jawline.

It's for dry, easily irritated skin on the body. If you're not sure dry sensitive is your type, find your skin type first. Browse the whole Core range, pair it with Flow on the face for a matched routine, or reach for Deep on the driest patches.

How to use

Massage a small amount into the skin until it's fully absorbed, once or twice a day.

Key ingredients

Dry, sensitive skin has two things going on at once. It's short on the lipids that keep water in, and it reacts easily to things other skin shrugs off. So the blend is built to replenish without provoking. The same five oils run through all three textures, and only the concentration changes.

Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera Biennis). One of the few plant oils rich in gamma-linolenic acid, alongside linoleic acid. These are the fatty acids a struggling barrier often can't make enough of itself, and the research links them to skin that holds together and defends itself better.

Tamanu Oil (Calophyllum Inophyllum). A richer, greenish oil high in fatty acids that helps soften skin feeling tight or rough. It has a big reputation in folk use; we keep our language modest, because it's here to condition and comfort, not to perform.

Sea Buckthorn Oil (Hippophae Rhamnoides). One of the rare plant sources of palmitoleic acid, an omega-7 that also turns up in skin's own lipids, carried alongside the carotenoids that give it that deep amber colour and its antioxidant character.

Baobab Oil (Adansonia Digitata). A stable, easy-going oil of oleic and linoleic acids plus sterols, long used to soften skin and help it hold on to moisture. A quiet workhorse rather than a headline act.

Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus Undatus). An antioxidant-rich extract that brings a light, gentle note to the blend and rounds out the fatty-acid profile.

And the one that ties the range to where it's made. Bladderwrack (Fucus Vesiculosus) is our signature Atlantic seaweed. It's the same species you'll find on the rocks along the Devon coast at low tide, though our extract is produced by specialist growers in France who work with it properly. It's valued for its antioxidant polysaccharides, and while the skin-microbiome research around seaweeds is still early, that's the part we hold most lightly.

Beyond these, every Biotaderm moisturiser shares the same quiet supporting cast, identical in all fifteen products: plant-derived squalane, a Saccharomyces and barley seed ferment postbiotic, inulin as a prebiotic, chlorella, glycerin, vitamin E, allantoin and a gentle gluconolactone, all in an olive-derived base. The idea is support, not control. Work with the skin, not over the top of it.

About the vetiver

There's one aromatic ingredient in here, and we'd rather name it than hide it. Vetiver root oil is a natural essential oil, obtained from the roots of the grass. It is not a synthetic fragrance, and nothing like one. We include it at a low, carefully controlled level, chosen for the antioxidant properties the research credits it with, and for the quiet natural note it lends the blend.

It's also unusual in a helpful way. Most essential oils contain at least one of the fragrance allergens that labelling rules require you to declare. Vetiver is one of the few that contains none of them, so there's nothing on that list to declare here. That's a labelling fact rather than a safety promise: a concentrated aromatic can still be a lot for a fragile barrier, so we keep the level low, raise it only gently from Flow to Deep, and suggest a patch test if your skin runs reactive.
