Balanced
The easy one to take for granted.
Skin that's mostly comfortable, neither tight nor shiny, and doesn't ask for much. Balanced skin is the most tolerant type and the least prone to trouble. This is also where most combination skin sits, a little oilier through the T-zone and a little drier on the cheeks. The job here isn't to fix anything. It's to keep a good thing good.
Is this you?
Balanced skin stays comfortable through most of the day. It isn't tight after washing, doesn't flake, and doesn't shine much beyond perhaps a little across the nose. It takes most products in its stride and rarely stings or flares. If you're a touch oilier in the T-zone and drier on the cheeks, that combination usually sits here too.
If your skin mostly just gets on with things, you're in the right place. If you're not sure, the skin type finder takes a couple of minutes.
What this skin type needs
Balanced skin is the one that's easy to overlook, precisely because it behaves. It doesn't need rescuing, and the commonest mistake is doing too much to it. What it wants is light, unfussy hydration that keeps it comfortable, plus a little antioxidant support to help protect it over the longer term. The research points to antioxidants as a sensible, low-drama way to look after skin that's already in good shape.
Balanced skin can drift toward dry or oily with age, season or a change in routine, so the quiet aim is simply to keep it where it is. Support, not control, as ever.
The oils we chose for it
Every Balanced moisturiser shares the same even blend of five cold-pressed organic oils, chosen for this skin type and carried at a different richness in each of the three textures. This is the most balanced blend we make, five oils at the same weight.
Jojoba, a liquid wax unusually close to the skin's own sebum, suits skin you want to keep just as it is. Rose hip is light and high in linoleic acid, the essential fatty acid the skin draws on to keep its barrier in order. Pomegranate brings punicic acid and antioxidant polyphenols. Baobab adds stable, conditioning fatty acids and sterols. And dragon fruit seed oil rounds the blend out with a light, well-balanced profile.
Around those five sits a supporting cast shared across the whole range. Squalane, a lightweight oil close to one the skin makes for itself. Soothing allantoin. A prebiotic and postbiotic pairing chosen to support the skin's own microbiome, where the evidence is still emerging and we would rather say so than overstate it. And our signature bladderwrack, the same Atlantic seaweed species we know from the rocks below Welcombe, though the extract itself is produced in France from that species. The coast is the kinship here, not the supply chain.
Every ingredient, and the exact amount of each, is published on each product page. That's the whole point of how we work, and each one links through to its own page if you want to read further.
Your three moisturisers
The same Balanced blend comes in three textures, so you can match the richness to where you're using it.
Flow is the lightest, made for the face. Core is richer and more cushioning, for the body. Deep is the richest, for the areas that turn driest, the hands, elbows and feet.
Same blend throughout. More or less of it, depending on what the skin is asking for.
Looking after Balanced skin
The main thing with balanced skin is not to overthink it.
Keep the routine simple and consistent, and resist the urge to pile on strong actives your skin doesn't actually need, since that's the quickest way to upset a good balance. Cleanse gently, moisturise to stay comfortable, and give your skin a little antioxidant support and sensible sun protection to help keep it the way it is. That's genuinely most of it. Balanced skin rewards a light touch more than a busy one.
You'll have noticed we never use synthetic fragrance. There's a single essential oil in the range, vetiver, at a low level and chosen on purpose, and it appears on every label so you can see exactly how much is there.
Your skin can settle over time
Balanced skin sits in a good place, but it isn't fixed there. It can drift toward dry or oily with age, environment, health or a change in routine. The reassuring part is that steady, gentle care tends to keep it where it is, and if it does shift, kind and consistent care can help bring it back toward the middle over time. It's gradual, and it comes from looking after your skin steadily rather than from any single product working magic. If your skin changes, the skin type finder is always there to place yourself again
